From 1972 to 2022: A Building Changes, But Your Warm Welcome Doesn’t

  • 1972 Antlers is built
  • 1973 First Antlers condo sells for $29,000
  • 1974 Swimming pool was built … it wasn’t part of original building
  • 1976 Front desk/lobby gets renovated … it remains at about 200 square feet
  • 1978 Portion of lower parking level was converted into conference room space.
  • 1978 Three bedrooms were added on to unit 101 to make it into employee housing
  • 1979 One-bedroom condos sell for $120,000
  • Dumpster fire almost every month throughout the winter … started from fireplace embers
  • 1981 one-bedroom condos sell for $181,000
  • 1983 Antlers hires the Mercer Group to do a rating of each condominium in an effort to encourage upgrading
  • 1987 Antlers first GM, Bud Benedict, retired and Rob LeVine took his place
  • 1987 one-bedroom condos sell for $104,000
  • 1987 Antlers contracts with Vail Resort Association to rate every condo in attempt to encourage upgrading
  • 1988 Front desk/lobby gets renovated … enlarged to about 400 square feet
  • 1989 Antlers hosts the Rochester Philharmonic as part of the Bravo Colorado music festival
  • 1989 Antlers buys a two-bedroom condo in East Vail to serve as additional employee housing
  • 1991 All wood fireplaces converted to gas to help bring back our clear starry nights
  • 1991 Antlers plays host to NBC’s Symphony of Sports with Bart Connor, Nadia Comaneci and a dozen other Olympians.
  • 1991 Antlers produces first promotional video (on VHS).  It was a big deal.
  • 1993 one-bedroom condos sell for $190,000
  • 1994 original elevator which only had three landings is replaced with an elevator that stops on all seven floors!
  • 1994 “A” is for Antlers program instituted to rate every unit in attempt to encourage upgrading
  • 1995 Antlers receives Mauri Nottingham Environmental Award from Town of Vail
  • 1996 planning begins for large scale redevelopment to become known as Antlers 2000
  • 1998 LQA program is instituted to rate every unit in attempt to encourage upgrading.  Antlers has an overall rating of 76 with 9 golds, 52 silvers and 4 bronzes
  • 1999 one-bedroom condos sell for $275,000
  • 2000 Demolition of old parking garage and new construction begins
  • 2002 Major renovation completed that includes 24 new condominiums.  New front desk/ lobby are now about 600 square feet
  • 2002 New executive board room is named after Executive Housekeeper, Millie Barela   
  • 2002 Antlers sells two-bedroom condo in East Vail thanks to seven new employee housing units on-site
  • 2003 one-bedroom condos sell for $415,000
  • 2003 Fire destroys swimming pool changing rooms
  • 2003 Antlers received Business of the Year and later Green Business of the Year from the Vail Valley Chamber & Tourism Bureau
  • 2003 Addition of new condos with average LQA score of 90, brings overall property score up to 80.
  • 2004 Swimming pool is replaced with new pool, hottubs and changing rooms
  • 2008 one-bedroom condos sell for $985,000
  • 2009 Executive Housekeeper Millie Barela retires in 2009 after 37 years of service. Board room named after her.
  • Antlers receives Community Impact Award from Vail Valley Partnership
  • Antlers receives Actively Green Certification
  • 2014 one-bedroom condos sell for $628,000
  • 2015 Antlers reaches LQA Platinum level property-wide with average unit rating of 90+
  • 2016 General Manager Rob LeVine retires in 2016 after 38 years of service.  Conference Center named after him. Magdalena King becomes third GM in Antlers history.
  • 2019 New lobby and new speedy elevator project completed.  New front desk/lobby is 1,000 square feet
  • New art installed throughout Antlers property
  • Antlers continues to be host hotel for all three resident Bravo orchestras
  • 2020 one-bedroom condos sell for $999,000
